Between the years 1860 and 1867 Richard Pearce sent to England from South America Andes four varieties B.boliviensis, B.pearcei, B.veitchii and B.rosaflora, the last two were discovered at a altitude of over 12,000 feet. Another variety was imported from Bolivia B.davisii. All indications point to these being the parent stock of the present day Tuberous Begonias.BEGONIA TYPE
